Short distance discharge - Micheal launches new discharge ba

The UK roll cleaning and anti-static specialists at Michels International have upgraded their Hyperion range of electrostatic control systems. This new 924IPS electrostatic bar is compact and ideally suited to smaller working areas. This new product will be used in a wide variety of applications including printing, packaging, converting and labelling.

"Up until now, small applications have been eliminated by means of an AC electrode," explains David Rogers, technical director of Mickey's. "At the same time, 24 V DC has become the standard supply voltage for other additional equipment on machines. That is why we decided to enhance our product range of anti-static systems with this electrode product. The Hyperion 924 IPS therefore becomes the first industrial 24 V DC electrode to be applied and serviced over short distances and exists as an alternative to conventional AC electrodes".

The 924 IPS is 32 mm high. Not only is it the most compact DC electrode on the market, but it can also be installed in demanding locations where AC electrodes would normally be required. The system uses the same 4-pole M8 plug and a titan electrode that can be safely touched. This electrode is also built into the other Hyperion electrodes. However, this new product has an IP66 category and can be used in harsh environments.

"The 924IPS is our first electrode with an adjustable output voltage. This feature is particularly useful in highly sensitive applications such as RFID. Therefore, the performance is fully controllable," says Rogers. "Similar to other Hyperion electrodes, we have built a cleaning alarm into the design of the 924IPS. An LED will show green or red depending on the cleanliness of the electrode. In this way, the user can easily check whether good ionisation performance can be achieved".

Meech International, will be presenting the new 924IPS Hyperion electrode at the 5th International Paper Film Converting and Printing Technology, Equipment and Materials Expo at ICE China, November 16-18, at Shanghai Mart, booth C31.
