U.S. plastic resin producers pledge to fully recycle plastic

U.S. plastic resin producers have pledged to fully recycle all plastic packaging by 2040 and further strengthen the management of plastic pellets by 2022, according to the American Chemistry Council (ACC) Plastics Division.

"We are embracing a circular economy for plastics as it helps demonstrate our overall commitment to sustainable materials stewardship," said Steve Russell, vice president of ACC Plastics. Plastic resin producers have planned to focus on six key areas to achieve these goals. It includes: designing new products to improve efficiency, recycling and reuse; developing new technologies and systems for collecting, sorting and recycling materials; making it easier for more consumers to participate in recycling programs; expanding the types of plastics collected and recycled; Align products with key end markets; and spread awareness about used plastics.
