DuPont's polyester is expected to replace PET

DuPont's Industrial Biosciences business and Archer Daniels Midland Co. (ADM) have teamed up to develop a technology that promises to lead to a new sustainable resin as an alternative to PET. The partners say they have discovered a breakthrough process that produces monomers that can replace terephthalic acid, the main raw material for polyethylene terephthalate (PET). The process starts with fructose, an abundant and low-cost sugar derived from many biomass sources. The end point is furandicarboxylate methyl ester (FDME), a monomer that acts like terephthalic acid in thermoplastic polyester production.

Solvay launches new medical polyethersulfone resin

February 22, 2016 Solvay Specialty Polymers, the world's leading supplier of high-performance polymer materials, today announced the launch of Veradel® HC A-301 polyethersulfone resin (PESU), which is compatible with other high temperature, transparent polymers on the market. In contrast, the medical-grade polymer remains transparent and rigid at high temperatures, and has better processability. It is reported that the target applications of Veradel? HC A-301PESU include medical diagnostic equipment housings, internal structural parts, monitors and filter equipment, biopharmaceutical processing products, such as observation holes, quick connect heads, etc. The material is currently available worldwide for medical product proofing.

Panasonic will mass-produce PBT resin molding materials for automobiles

From March, Panasonic Automotive Electronics and Electromechanical Systems Co., Ltd. will mass-produce "Polybutylene terephthalate (PBT) resin molding material for laser cladding", a material for sealing and bonding processing, and will be The new material will be exhibited at "The LED Show" in the United States on March 1, and at "High Performance Materials World 2016" in Tokyo on April 6. It is reported that the use of this material can reduce the production process of switches and sensors for in-vehicle equipment, improve long-term reliability and design freedom.

DuPont develops sustainable development resin FDME polymer, which will effectively replace PET; Solvay launches Veradel® HC A-301 polyethersulfone resin to meet the needs of medical product proofing; and Panasonic will mass-produce PBT resin molding materials for vehicles to improve Related performance of in-vehicle equipment. As more new resin materials are successively developed and applied, the innovation of materials will be further promoted and new development needs of the industry will be stimulated.
