Mundi invests 20 million euros to upgrade pulp mill in Franz

Mundy has invested EUR 20 million in a pulp mill in Franciac, Austria, to further improve the efficient and sustainable production of pulp.

Gottfried John, general manager of the Monty Francac mill, said: “With the increased focus on sustainability and the circular economy, fibres and pulp are also in the spotlight. We all know that In addition to wood, paper is also the most widely used renewable material in the world. The recycling rate of paper and paper packaging materials in Europe is as high as 74% and 83% respectively.

Our new mill equipment will increase the efficiency of pulp production. The upgrade and retrofit of the plant increases the extraction of heat from the production process and reduces the need for steam, and it also reduces the chemical oxygen demand in the biological wastewater treatment process by 140 tons per year. "

Construction of the new factory will start in the near future, and it is planned to start production in the fall of 2023. The Mondi Francac factory mainly produces paper bag kraft paper (skp), machine-glazed special kraft paper (spkp) and specialty paper.

Mondi is a global leader in packaging and paper and provides consumers with innovative and sustainable packaging and paper solutions.
