College students develop toolkit to turn waste plastic into

It is reported that a student from the University of the West of England, Josh James, has developed a tool that can turn discarded plastic bottles into practical household items. Today, Josh James has won an industry award for his invention of Melt, a kit that converts plastic into household items such as coasters, cups, cutting boards, plant pots and more.

The product won first prize at the New Designers Awards 2016, and the tool is now available in one of the industry's leading online stores. Molds and a welding unit are included in the Melt, making it very easy to get started. Just cut the HDPE plastic into small pieces and melt it in the oven to make anything you want. This means that once a malleable plastic is melted, other colorful items can be made by hand.

James developed the product at the age of 21, in his final year project in a university course.
