On October 18th this year, the first international standard "Paper, paperboard and pulp -- Standard atmospheric conditions and monitoring Procedures for sample handling and testing" in the field of papermaking was officially released. This international standard is formulated by China Pulp and Paper Research Institute Co., LTD., which is the first international standard in the field of papermaking led by China, and also the first standard project managed by Chinese experts as the convenor of the ISO working group in the field of papermaking. The issue of this standard, realizes the BREAKTHROUGH that our country papermaking field international standard zero, makes China become one of the countries that master papermaking field international standard research technology.
In China, papermaking standardization work with the development and progress of the papermaking industry, has initially established a mandatory standards and recommended standards coordination, national standards and industry standards complement each other, basic general standards, safety standards, management standards and product standards combined standard system, to provide important technical support for the development of the papermaking industry. Up to now, the national paper industry Standardization Technical Committee has a total of 496 standards, including 373 national standards, 123 industrial standards. As for the foreign version of the national standard, the papermaking standard Committee has drafted 4, 2 have been released, 2 have been approved and will be released soon. National standard language translation is conducive to deepening the interconnection of standards, promoting mutual recognition of standards, strengthening the international promotion and application of Chinese standards, and providing effective support for Chinese paper products, technologies and services to go global.
In the international community, as of October 2022, the ISO/TC6 "International Organization for Standardization/Technical Committee for Paper, Board and Pulp" has 29 participating member states, of which China is one. There are 30 observation member states, 112 international standards have been published, and 14 international standards are under research. ISO/TC6/SC2 "International Organization for Standardization/Paper, Paperboard and pulp Technical Committee/Paper and paperboard Test methods and Quality Specification sub-technical committee" is the ISO/TC6 only sub-technical committee, a total of 23 participating member states, China is one, observation member states 18, released 86 international standards, 13 international standards in the research. Technical Committee and sub-technical committee international standard topics include paper, board, pulp, cellulose nanofibre materials and lignin terminology, sample preparation, test methods and quality specifications, printability, deinking potential, environmental issues, recycling, etc.
This international standard is applicable to the temperature and humidity treatment of various paper, cardboard and pulp samples, as well as the control of atmospheric conditions in the process of temperature and humidity treatment and inspection and detection. It will help to solve the key problems of relying on manual maintenance, time-consuming and laborious, long measuring time and low accuracy in the use of traditional temperature and humidity bulb hygrometer. It plays a positive role in promoting the global laboratory standard atmospheric conditions control, sample temperature and humidity treatment, and the electronic and automatic development of the inspection process.
Today, the total production of our country paper and paperboard steadily ranks the head of the world, has continuously 11 years has more than 11 million tons, about 70% of paper making production line has reached domestic or international advanced level, has lead the paper industry development industry and technical superiority. Led by China, it is helpful for the high-quality development and transformation of the global paper industry to carry out the international standard framework system and standard internationalization strategy research. In the future, we should jointly promote the new development of international standardization with a more open attitude, strengthen the research and development of international standards in the field of papermaking, and give full play to the role of standardization innovation in supporting and facilitating the high-quality development of the industry.
