France begins to ban the use of plastic bags for packaging f

According to Agence France-Presse, France has officially launched a plastic restriction order from New Year's Day in 2022. 30 types of fruits and vegetables, including cucumbers, lemons and oranges, are prohibited from being packed in plastic bags, except for fruits over 1.5 kg.
In addition, fruit merchants and supermarkets have six months to use existing plastic bags. In order to allow businesses to find alternatives to plastic bags, the law is expected to extend to all fruits and vegetables until 2026. According to reports, 37% of French fruit and vegetable products are packaged in plastic bags, and the government stated that the plastic restriction order can reduce 1 billion plastic bags each year.
